Frequently asked questions
In which country do you keep the largest share of your salary?
On a gross salary of $3,000 a month, a single expat keeps the most in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, the UAE and Bahrain, where salaries are not taxed. The least is left in Tunisia: about $1,838 (38.7% deducted).
Why does the ranking change at higher salaries?
Countries shape their tax bands differently: some start with low rates and climb quickly, while others cap social insurance so the relative burden falls on higher salaries. That is why we show four salary levels.
Does the ranking take the cost of living into account?
No. It covers income tax and mandatory contributions only, at current exchange rates.
