Personal loan calculator 2026: instalment and APR
Enter the amount, the term and the bank's rate to see the monthly instalment, the total profit and the true annual percentage rate (APR) including fees. Switch to "Maximum loan for my salary" to apply the salary deduction cap.
Flat-rate instalment = (amount + amount × rate × years) ÷ months. Example: 100,000 at a 3.5% flat rate over 5 years is an instalment of about 1,958 a month and 17,500 in profit, equal to a reducing rate of about 6.5%. The calculator also works out the APR including fees.

How the calculation works
- Flat rate: profit is charged on the full amount for the whole term, even as you repay it. Personal loans are usually advertised this way.
- APR: the annual percentage rate is the true yearly cost on the reducing balance, including fees. Compare offers on APR, not on the flat rate.
- Salary deduction cap: your instalments together may not exceed a set share of your salary, and the term has a legal maximum. These two limits set the most you can borrow.
Islamic banks call the bank's return "profit" rather than interest; the arithmetic is the same.

Frequently asked questions
How much personal finance can I get on my salary?
The maximum instalment is your salary times the salary deduction cap, minus your existing instalments. The most you can borrow is then worked out over the longest term allowed. Choose "Maximum loan for my salary" in the calculator.
How much of my salary can go on loan instalments?
33.33% of gross salary in Saudi Arabia for employees (25% for retirees), 50% in the UAE, 40% of net salary in Kuwait, and 50% for expats in Qatar.
What is the annual percentage rate (APR)?
It is the true yearly cost of the loan on a reducing balance, including admin fees. The Saudi Central Bank and the Central Bank of the UAE require lenders to disclose it. The calculator works it out for you from the flat rate and the fees.
How do I convert a flat rate to a reducing rate?
There is no simple formula, because it depends on the term. The calculator works out the equivalent reducing rate exactly. As a rough guide, the reducing rate is close to double the flat rate on short terms.
