Frequently asked questions

How do I work out my take-home pay in the Gulf?

Choose the country and enter your gross monthly or yearly salary as written in your contract. The calculator deducts income tax (where there is one) and the employee share of social insurance, then shows what reaches your account, monthly and yearly, with each deduction itemised.

Which Arab countries have no income tax on salaries?

In 2026: Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain. Nationals may still pay pension or social insurance contributions, and in a few countries a small contribution is taken from expats too.

Do expats pay social insurance in the Gulf?

Mostly no. Pension contributions in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman fall mainly on nationals. There are exceptions, so each calculator lets you switch between national and expat to see the difference.

Is a Gulf salary really tax-free if I am a US citizen?

The Gulf state does not tax your salary, but the United States taxes its citizens on worldwide income. Most Americans working abroad use the foreign earned income exclusion or foreign tax credits to reduce or remove US tax on that salary. Our FEIE calculator shows the effect for your salary.

Where do the figures come from?

From the issuing authorities: tax departments, social insurance bodies and official gazettes. We list 125 official sources for the Arab countries, each with the date we checked it. Where an official source could not be confirmed, the country shows a lower verification level.

Is it free, and do you store my salary?

It is free and needs no sign-up. The calculation runs in your browser, so your salary is never sent to our servers.
