VAT calculator 2026: add or remove VAT

Enter an amount and pick a country to add VAT to a net price, or switch to "Remove VAT" to split a VAT-inclusive total into the price and the VAT.

Short answer

To add VAT, multiply the price by (1 + the rate). To take VAT out of a VAT-inclusive price, divide the price by (1 + the rate); the difference is the VAT. Example at 15%: 1,150 including VAT = 1,000 before VAT + 150 VAT.

How to add or remove VAT

  • Add VAT: price before VAT × (1 + rate) = price including VAT.
  • Remove VAT: price including VAT ÷ (1 + rate) = price before VAT. The difference is the VAT.
  • Do not take the rate off a gross price: the VAT inside a total is always less than the rate times the total, because the total already includes the VAT.
