Annual leave calculator 2026: Palestine (inside the Green Line)

Enter your salary, years of service and unused leave days to see your entitlement and what the unused days are worth under the labour law of Palestine (inside the Green Line).

Short answer

16 days for each of the first 5 years, 18 days for the 6th year, 21 days for the 7th, then one extra day for each year from the 8th up to 28 days. The days include one weekly rest day for every 7 days of leave, so 16 days equal about 14 working days in a 6-day week. Example: after 3 years of service the entitlement is 16 days a year, and 15 unused days on a total salary of 13,500 new shekels are worth 6,750 new shekels.

What the law says

16 days for each of the first 5 years, 18 days for the 6th year, 21 days for the 7th, then one extra day for each year from the 8th up to 28 days. The days include one weekly rest day for every 7 days of leave, so 16 days equal about 14 working days in a 6-day week.

Leave pay equals the "regular wage": for a monthly employee, the wage they would have earned had they kept working, and for a daily or hourly worker, the average daily wage over the previous 3 months (Section 10). Amounts that cover specific expenses not incurred during leave are not part of the wage. If employment ends before the leave is used up, the employer pays cash in lieu equal to the pay for the remaining days (Section 13).

The full entitlement applies to anyone who worked at least 200 days in a full year, or 240 days in part of a year; otherwise it is in proportion to the days worked (Section 3). Days of illness or accident, birth and parental leave, mourning, strikes and holidays on which no work is done do not count as leave (Section 5). The law does not set a daily divisor for a monthly employee, and in a 5-day week the 16 days are commonly converted to 12 working days, but we have not checked this in an official text, so we do not use it.

Annual Leave Law of 1951 as amended (Amendment 15 of 2016): Section 3 (length of leave), Section 10 (leave pay), Section 13 (pay in lieu of leave).

How the calculator works it out

  1. Daily wage = the total monthly salary ÷ 30 (the law sets no divisor, so we use 30, the common practice) = 450 ILS on the example salary.
  2. Pay for unused leave = unused days × daily wage: 15 × 450 = 6,750 ILS.
