How to add or remove VAT

  • Add VAT: price before VAT × 1.20 = price including VAT. For example, 250 becomes 300.
  • Remove VAT: price including VAT ÷ 1.20 = price before VAT. The difference is the VAT. For example, 600 including VAT is 500 before VAT and 100 VAT.
  • Do not take 20% off a gross price: 20% of 1,200 is 240, but the VAT inside it is 200.
