How to add or remove VAT

  • Add VAT: price before VAT × 1.16 = price including VAT. For example, 250 becomes 290.
  • Remove VAT: price including VAT ÷ 1.16 = price before VAT. The difference is the VAT. For example, 580 including VAT is 500 before VAT and 80 VAT.
  • Do not take 16% off a gross price: 16% of 1,160 is 185.60, but the VAT inside it is 160.
