Deductions on $3,000 a month, line by line
Every deduction from the same gross salary in each country, in local currency, with the calculator's notes.
- Calculated for a person under 65. People aged 65 or over get an extra rebate of R9,765, so they pay no tax up to R153,250.
- We assumed you are not a member of a medical scheme. Membership gives a fixed monthly tax credit for each registered member.
- We did not include retirement fund contributions. If your employer deducts a retirement contribution, it is deducted from taxable income within the legal limits, so your tax is lower.
- The Skills Development Levy is paid by the employer only if its annual payroll is above R500,000. The calculation does not include the compensation fund assessment for workplace injuries (COIDA), which varies by industry.
- There is no income tax on salaries in the UAE.
- Expat employees pay no pension contribution and are entitled to an end-of-service gratuity from the employer.
- Unemployment insurance (ILOE) is mandatory: 5 dirhams a month plus VAT if the basic salary is 16,000 dirhams or less, and 10 dirhams above that. We used your gross salary to pick the category. Investors, domestic workers, people on temporary contracts, those under 18 and retirees who work are exempt.
