What the law says
At least 21 days for each year, rising to at least 30 days after 5 years of continuous service with the same employer.
Leave is paid in advance, and in the law the wage means the actual wage (basic plus allowances). A worker who leaves the job is entitled to pay for unused leave days, and to leave pay for fractions of a year in proportion to the time worked. Leave may not be paid out in cash during employment.
If annual leave overlaps with Eid and official holidays, annual leave is extended by the number of those days (Implementing Regulations). The English version of the unified employment contract annexed to the Regulations states that leave is counted in calendar days. Leave pay is based on the actual wage, inferred from the definition of wage in Article 2, since Article 111 does not mention the basic wage.
Labour Law: Article 2 (wage = actual wage, month = 30 days), Article 109, Article 110, Article 111. Implementing Regulations: Articles 33 and 37 and the rules on Eid holidays.
How the calculator works it out
- Daily wage = the total monthly salary ÷ 30 = 360 SAR on the example salary.
- Pay for unused leave = unused days × daily wage: 15 × 360 = 5,400 SAR.
