Saudi Arabia overtime calculator 2026
Enter your salary and the extra hours you worked to see the overtime pay you are owed under the labour law of Saudi Arabia.
Normal working hours in Saudi Arabia: 8 hours a day if the daily standard is used, or 48 hours a week if the weekly standard is used, reduced during Ramadan for Muslims to 6 hours a day or 36 hours a week. Overtime is paid at 150% of the hourly wage by day and 150% on the weekly rest day. Each overtime hour is paid at the total hourly wage plus 50% of the basic hourly wage. Example: 20 daytime overtime hours on a basic salary of 8,000 and a total salary of 10,800 Saudi riyals come to 1,233 Saudi riyals.
Pay and hours
What the law says
Overtime pay = the actual (total) hourly wage plus 50% of the basic hourly wage (Article 107). In the law, the wage means the actual wage, that is the basic wage plus all allowances and increments due (Article 2).
720 overtime hours a year at most, which may be exceeded with the worker's consent (Article 22 of the Implementing Regulations). In the cases covered by Article 106, actual working hours may not exceed 10 hours a day or 60 hours a week.
The 150% rate is an approximation that does not match the text exactly: the correct formula is (total hourly wage + 50% of the basic hourly wage), so if the worker has allowances the result is less than 150% of the total hourly wage. The law has no separate rate for night work, so the calculator applies none. All hours worked on holidays and Eid days count as overtime (Article 107, paragraph 3) and take the same formula. With the worker's consent, overtime pay may be replaced by paid compensatory leave days. The law does not state the divisor for the hourly wage; the 30 x 8 divisor is derived from the definition of a month as 30 days (Article 2) and the daily standard of 8 hours (Article 98).
Labour Law issued by Royal Decree M/51 as amended up to M/44 of 1446 AH: Article 2 (definitions of basic wage, actual wage and month), Article 98 (working hours), Article 104 (weekly rest), Article 106, Article 107 (overtime pay). Implementing Regulations: Article 22.
How the calculator works it out
- Hourly wage = the total monthly salary ÷ 30 days ÷ 8 hours = 45 SAR on the example salary.
- Each overtime hour = the total hourly wage + 50% of the basic hourly wage.
- 20 daytime hours on a basic salary of 8,000 and a total of 10,800 SAR: 1,233 SAR.
