Enter the amount, the term and the bank's rate to see the monthly instalment, the total profit and the true annual percentage rate (APR) including fees. Switch to "Maximum loan for my salary" to apply the salary deduction cap in Egypt.
Example: a loan of 400,000 Egyptian pounds over 120 months at a 11% flat rate costs 7,000 Egyptian pounds a month, with 440,000 in total profit; the equivalent reducing rate is about 17.19%. Total instalments on consumer loans (personal, car, cards and mortgages outside the Mortgage Finance Law) may not exceed 50% of monthly income after taxes and social insurance (Governor's letter of 19 December 2019). The instructions set no maximum term or return cap on personal loans; each bank's policy sets them (we assumed up to 10 years).

How the calculation works
- Flat rate: profit is charged on the full amount for the whole term, even as you repay it. Personal loans are usually advertised this way.
- APR: the annual percentage rate is the true yearly cost on the reducing balance, including fees. Compare offers on APR, not on the flat rate.
- Salary deduction cap: your instalments together may not exceed a set share of your salary, and the term has a legal maximum. These two limits set the most you can borrow.
Islamic banks call the bank's return "profit" rather than interest; the arithmetic is the same.

Frequently asked questions
How much personal finance can I get on my salary?
The maximum instalment is your salary times the salary deduction cap, minus your existing instalments. The most you can borrow is then worked out over the longest term allowed (120 months in Egypt). Choose "Maximum loan for my salary" in the calculator.
How much of my salary can go on loan instalments?
Total instalments on consumer loans (personal, car, cards and mortgages outside the Mortgage Finance Law) may not exceed 50% of monthly income after taxes and social insurance (Governor's letter of 19 December 2019).
What is the annual percentage rate (APR)?
It is the true yearly cost of the loan on a reducing balance, including admin fees. The Saudi Central Bank and the Central Bank of the UAE require lenders to disclose it. The calculator works it out for you from the flat rate and the fees.
How do I convert a flat rate to a reducing rate?
There is no simple formula, because it depends on the term. The calculator works out the equivalent reducing rate exactly. As a rough guide, the reducing rate is close to double the flat rate on short terms.
