Moving from Bangladesh to Oman: what changes

  • On $3,000 a month you gain about $534 a month after the move ($6,413 a year), because the deduction rate falls from 17.8% to 0%.

  • Gains on shares: not taxed in Oman, against up to 15% in Bangladesh.
  • Dividends: not taxed in Oman, against 15% in Bangladesh.
  • Crypto gains: not taxed in Oman; banned in Bangladesh.
  • Tax residence in Oman: In 2026 there is no tax residence test for individuals, because they pay no income tax. You may also stay tax resident in Bangladesh if you do not end your residence there. Count your days.
