Jordan end-of-service gratuity calculator 2026

Enter your last salary and how long you have worked to see the gratuity you are owed in Jordan, whether you resign or the employer ends the contract.

Short answer

If you are not covered by social security, you get one month's pay for each year of service, based on your last wage, under Article 32 of the Labour Law. If you are covered by social security, as most people are, you get your entitlements from the Social Security Corporation instead. Example: 5 years of service on a basic salary of 900 Jordanian dinars (1,260 with allowances) gives 6,300 Jordanian dinars when the contract ends or the employer ends it.

For an expat with a total salary of 1,260 JOD (basic plus allowances). Amounts in JOD.

How it is calculated

The 5-year example above, step by step:

  1. One month's wage for each year of service: 1,260 dinars × 5 years = 6,300 dinars.
  2. It is based on the last wage the worker received, and part years are paid pro rata.
  • This gratuity (Article 32 of the Labour Law) applies only to a worker not covered by social security, and is due whatever the reason the service ends, resignation or termination.
  • Most private sector workers are covered by social security. They do not get this gratuity from the employer; they receive their entitlements through the Social Security Corporation (a retirement pension or a lump-sum compensation, and unemployment insurance).
  • Tax: the first 15,000 dinars of an end-of-service gratuity for service since 1/1/2015 is exempt, and any amount above that is taxed at 9% (Article 4 of the Income Tax Law).
