Qatar end-of-service gratuity calculator 2026

Enter your last salary and how long you have worked to see the gratuity you are owed in Qatar, whether you resign or the employer ends the contract.

Short answer

Article 54 of Labour Law No. 14 of 2004 says a worker who has completed one full year or more is entitled to a gratuity agreed by both sides, provided it is not less than 3 weeks' pay for each year of service, with part years counted pro rata. It is calculated on the last basic pay, not on allowances. Example: 5 years of service on a basic salary of 15,000 Qatari riyals (21,000 with allowances) gives 52,500 Qatari riyals when the contract ends or the employer ends it.

How it is calculated

The 5-year example above, step by step:

  1. 3 weeks' pay (21 days) for each year = 10500 riyals
  2. × 5 years = 52500 riyals
  • Article 54 of Labour Law No. 14 of 2004: a gratuity of no less than 3 weeks' pay for each year, with parts of a year counted pro rata, based on the last basic wage. This is the minimum, and the contract may provide for more.
  • The law does not reduce the gratuity on resignation, so the amount is the same whether you resign or the employer ends the contract, unless you are dismissed under Article 61, which allows it to be withheld.
  • We assumed a 30-day month, so 21 days' pay = basic ÷ 30 × 21.

How do I calculate end-of-service gratuity in Qatar?

At least 3 weeks' basic pay for each year once you have completed a year of service: basic ÷ 30 × 21 × number of years. Basic pay of 10,000 riyals and 6 years gives 42,000 riyals.

Is the Qatar gratuity reduced if I resign?

No. Qatari labour law does not reduce the gratuity when you resign, provided you have completed a year of service, unless you are dismissed for one of the reasons in Article 61.

Is the Qatar gratuity based on basic or gross salary?

On the last basic salary, under Article 54 of the Labour Law. Allowances such as housing and transport are only included if the contract says so.
