Deductions on $5,000 a month, line by line
Every deduction from the same gross salary in each country, in local currency, with the calculator's notes.
- The $1,000 standard deduction for work expenses, which starts in 2026-27, has been subtracted. Anyone who claims larger actual work expenses does not get it.
- The calculation does not include the Medicare levy surcharge for people without private hospital cover whose income is above its threshold, nor HELP study loan repayments.
- There is no income tax on salaries in Saudi Arabia.
- We assumed the contributory wage equals your gross salary, up to the cap of 45,000 Saudi riyals a month. In practice the contribution is worked out on the basic wage plus housing allowance only, so if part of your pay is other allowances (transport, for example) the actual deduction will be lower.
- Nothing is deducted from a non-Saudi employee's salary. The employer pays 2% for occupational hazards, and the employee is entitled to an end-of-service award when the contract ends.
