Deductions on $3,000 a month, line by line
Every deduction from the same gross salary in each country, in local currency, with the calculator's notes.
- We exempted 500,000 taka (one third of salary, up to 500,000), so taxable income is 3,931,587 taka.
- We have not included the investment rebate (3% of taxable income, 15% of eligible investment or 1 million taka, whichever is lowest). People who save in a provident fund, savings certificates or life insurance pay less.
- The calculation is for a man under 65. Women and people aged 65 or over have a tax-free limit of 450,000 taka.
- No mandatory social insurance is deducted from private-sector employees. Your employer deducts tax from your salary each month.
- There is no income tax on salaries in Saudi Arabia.
- We assumed the contributory wage equals your gross salary, up to the cap of 45,000 Saudi riyals a month. In practice the contribution is worked out on the basic wage plus housing allowance only, so if part of your pay is other allowances (transport, for example) the actual deduction will be lower.
- Nothing is deducted from a non-Saudi employee's salary. The employer pays 2% for occupational hazards, and the employee is entitled to an end-of-service award when the contract ends.
